El anime de Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso (2016) se ha convertido hoy en día, en un clásico que revisitar al comenzar este mes de Abril. Y aunque pueda parecer un acto un tanto «masoquista» lo cierto es que la trama no deja de encandilar y emocionar a todo/a aquél/aquella que se sumerge en su visionado.
Es difícil de expresar cómo una historia sobre el duelo, los traumas infantiles, el romance adolescente y la madurez repentina puede haber llegado a ahondar en la memoria del anime. Una de las claves de este hecho está en sus personajes, quienes a través de un lenguaje no idiomático, han aprendido a comunicarse sus más profundos sentimientos, como el amor, los celos o el miedo.
Nuestros protagonistas: Kaori y Kousei se conocen en un parque infantil. Los cerezos ya están en flor, con lo que anuncian la llegada de la primavera y de algo más. El inicio de un romance, quizás, o el fin de un trauma arraigado desde la niñez.
A medida que la serie nos muestra más sobre estos personajes, vamos adentrándonos en lo que la primavera japonesa metaforiza. Los cerezos florecen, pero por un corto período de tiempo. El rosa nos seduce con tentativas de comenzar un etapa llena de color. Pero después llegan las lluvias, lo que verdaderamente representa a la primavera. La tormenta, aunque carente de colores vibrantes y vivos, permite al agua limpiar, depurar e hidratar. Es el verdadero significado de la primavera: la renovación. Es la hora del cambio.
Kousei vive anclado en un tiempo que le obliga a detenerse, a frenarse en su crecimiento y temerle a todo aquello que implique cambiar. Sin embargo Kaori le muestra que la vida es un proceso constante de duelos a los que someterse. Sufres la pérdida de la infancia, la pérdida de la inocencia, la pérdida de seres queridos y la pérdida de pasiones o amores. Todo esto para dar paso a algo nuevo que te permita avanzar.
El título ya nos lo deja muy claro, por que hay una mentira que se esconde en Abril. Una de la que, por desgracia, Kaori no puede evadirse ni evitarla. Como la propia afloración de los cerezos, Kaori vive al minuto su vida, alimentándose de cada pequeño momento que aún le ofrecer. No se rige por las normas ni los convencionalismos, y mucho menos cuando toca su violín. Ella ha cruzado una línea invisible e indisoluble que la aísla en una mirada efímera y vivaz. Lo que la convierte en la viva imagen de la primavera.
Por otro lado, la música es un elemento de expresión en la que se reflejan visiblemente, las personalidades tan contrastadas de ambos personajes. Un pianista dudoso, con miedo e incapacidad de escuchar las teclas de su piano ni a sí mismo, pero talentoso; y una violinista fuera de lo convencional, que interpreta la melodía como una prolongación de sus sentimientos, una interpretación de cómo ella concibe la vida y sus propias emociones.
Todo esto llevado con una dramática constante, en la que la adolescencia se mezcla con reflexiones de un mundo que en principio, no les pertenece a ellos, pero a lo que tienen que enfrentarse tarde o temprano.
¿Qué secretos esconde Abril? Todos/as nosotros/as tenemos un abril que recordar, pero la cuestión está en si podemos volver a él rememorando su mismo esplendor.
