La factoría Disney ha reunido a prácticamente todos sus personajes de la gran pantalla para celebrar un acontecimiento muy especial: sus mágicos cien años de historia. La cita ha sido en un cortometraje de 9 minutos que se estrenó el pasado 16 de octubre en la plataforma de streaming Disney +, justo en la misma fecha en la que se fundó el Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio original en 1923. Anteriormente, Érase una vez un estudio había sido proyectado de manera especial en eventos destacados como el festival de Annecy. Se podrá ver también en cines acompañando al estreno de la película Wish, que llegará a las salas el próximo 24 de noviembre y supondrá el colofón final a las celebraciones del centenario de Disney.
ANIMADORES Y ANIMADOS
El corto combina principalmente animación en 2D y 3D con los espacios reales de los estudios de Disney como telón de fondo. También cuenta con la participación de la actriz Renika Williams y del veterano animador de la compañía Burny Mattinson, director de Basil, el ratón superdetective y Una Navidad con Mickey. Mattinson ha estado presente como guionista, animador o artista de story-boards en la mayor parte de las películas de Disney desde 1955 hasta su fallecimiento en, tristes casualidades de la vida, este 2023 tan especial para el estudio. Es él quien invoca la magia de los pasillos de Disney pronunciando las palabras «Si estas paredes pudieran hablar…», tras las cuales toma el relevo como maestro de ceremonias, como no podía ser de otra manera, Mickey Mouse, con su apariencia del corto La fiesta de cumpleaños de Mickey (1942).
TODOS LOS QUE SON Y TODOS LOS QUE ESTÁN
En una particular Noche en el museo, la llamada de Mickey y la magia de Campanilla hace cobrar vida a más de 500 personajes de las películas y cortometrajes de Disney. Entre ellos no faltan los sospechosos habituales, desde todas las princesas hasta los personajes de Encanto, pasando por Peter Pan; pero tampoco se olvidan de los menos populares: El señor sapo, Taron, las vacas de Zafarrancho en el rancho o Lewis de Descubriendo a los Robinson. Y por supuesto también hay hueco para las películas Disney que no conquistaron la taquilla pero han sido reivindicadas con el paso del tiempo, como El planeta del tesoro o Atlantis, el imperio perdido.

También se percibe un gran esmero por la continuidad de las voces originales de cada personaje, en ocasiones haciendo un inteligente uso del archivo para recuperar la magia, por ejemplo, del desparecido Robin Williams. Este esfuerzo también se traslada en el doblaje castellano, donde también se han mantenido la mayoría de las interpretaciones originales, en la medida de lo posible. En conclusión, aunque no deja de ser un mero ejercicio autopublicitario, es innegable el enorme cariño y la nostalgia con la que la Disney de hoy reconoce su enorme legado en la historia de la animación. Un respeto que, por otro lado, no ha sido especialmente notable en los últimos años de la compañía.
